Ephesians 1

Furthermore, you who heard the message of the truth, the Good News offering you deliverance, and put your trust in the Messiah were sealed by him with the promised Ruach HaKodesh, who guarantees our inheritance until we come into possession of it and thus bring him praise commensurate with his glory.

Three times God tells us through Paul, we will “bring him praise commensurate with his glory.”  How do I love you, O God?  Let me count the ways and why.  You loved me first.  You planned me long before a world existed.  My heart, my core being fills up with unspoken emotion when I meditate on this.  My spirit continually seeks for more of You; more revealed in Your Word, more revealed in Your creation.  My body gets weak when I contemplate Your greatness and I am left amazed and puzzled that One so much greater than I would consider me let alone know me and love me as You do.  Who is man that You are mindful of him or the son of man that You visit him? I am forever grateful…

For this reason, ever since I heard about your trust in the Lord Yeshua, and your love for all God’s people, I have not stopped giving thanks for you.  In my prayers I keep asking the God of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, the glorious Father, to give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you will have full knowledge of him.  I pray that he will give light to the eyes of your hearts, so that you will understand the hope to which he has called you, what rich glories there are in the inheritance he has promised his people, and how surpassingly great is his power working in us who trust him.  It works with the same mighty strength he used when he worked in the Messiah to raise him from the dead and seat him at his right hand in heaven, far above every ruler, authority, power, dominion, or any other name that can be named either in the ‘olam hazah or in the ‘olam haba.  Also, he has put all things under his feet and made him head over everything for the Messianic Community, which is his body, the full expression of him who fills all creation.

It is time, past time, to join in prayer.  It is time to pray for all God’s people to receive a spirit of wisdom and revelation; to receive the full knowledge of him; to have their eyes opened, the eyes of the heart, to understand the hope they are called to.  It is time to pray they understand the inheritance, that  his great power works in them to accomplish more than they can imagine or ask; this same power able to raise Jesus from death to life.

Pray – Father, who has given every family in heaven and on earth their name and their character, I pray to you asking that you will empower them by your Holy Spirit so that the Messiah may come to live in them through their trust and faith.

Repent – I repent for the times I feel too weary to pray for them.  I repent for the time I want to move quickly through my prayers so I can do what I want to do.

Ask – I pray that I, with all of God’s people, will be rooted and founded in love; that I and they will be given the strength to grasp the length, depth, height and width of the Messiah’s love to know it even though it is beyond all knowing that we may be filled with the fullness of You, God.

Yes – I will ever thank You for Your goodness to all mankind.  And I thank You for the answers to prayer You bring.  O God, You are my God and I will ever praise You…

Born to Praise…

Praised be Adonai, Father of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, who in the Messiah has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in heaven.  In the Messiah he chose us in love before the creation of the universe to be holy and without defect in his presence.  He determined in advance that through Yeshua the Messiah we would be his sons—in keeping with his pleasure and purpose—so that we would bring him praise commensurate with the glory of the grace he gave us through the Beloved One. Ephesians

We are holy and without defect in His presence.  He said so; if we are one of Christ’s.  We are his children; sons and daughters; planned for!  He said so.  This is His purpose in our creation.  We bring Him praise. He gets the praise for the grace He has extended to us..

What can we do outside his grace?  Nothing.  What can we do in his grace?  Whatever He desires…

In union with him, through the shedding of his blood, we are set free–our sins are forgiven; this accords with the wealth of the grace he has lavished on us.  In all his wisdom and insight he has made known to us his secret plan, which by his own will he designed beforehand in connection with the Messiah and will put into effect when the time is ripe–his plan to place everything in heaven and on earth under the Messiah’s headship.

Also, in union with him we were given an inheritance, we who were picked in advance according to the purpose of the One who effects everything in keeping with the decision of his will, so that we who earlier had put our hope in the Messiah would bring him praise commensurate with his glory. Ephesians

We are in union with Christ; we are one.  We are set free of the penalty for sin.  We are given wisdom and insight into his plan for us.  We have an inheritance.  We have all this for one purpose–to bring him praise.

How can we allow the enemy to spread lies about us to us? Why would we believe the enemy? and not God?  It is imperative that we realize how blessed we are!  Let it sink in and take root.  Any thoughts that come to say we failed, we are inadequate, we cannot…any thoughts of this nature are lies from the enemy.  It is time to recognize who we are in Christ and call the lie what it is!!

Eve believed the lie and look at its consequences.  Christ’s coming changes all that.  We can because he did and God said so!

Pray- I am and doubly so because of Christ therefore I can praise You and will praise You for the change You bring in the second birth.  I will sing to You, Lord, for You are highly exalted.  The horse and its rider You have hurled into the sea!  You, Lord are my strength and my song; You have become my salvation.  You are my God and I will praise You.  You, Lord, are a warrior!The Lord is your name!

Repent – I repent for not praising You more.  God, You know how foolish I am; my guilt is not hidden from You.  Let those who put their hope in you, Adonai Elohim-Tzva’ot, not be put to shame through me; let those who are seeking You, God of Isra’el, not be disgraced through me.

Ask – As for me, Adonai, let my prayer to You come at an acceptable time; in Your great grace, God, answer me with the truth of Your salvation.

Yes – Praise you, my God!  Let the sound of Your praise be heard; You have preserved my life and kept my feet from slipping.  For You, o God, tested me You refined me like silver.

Be exalted, God, above heaven!  May Your glory be over all the earth!

Psalm 29

Give Adonai his due, you who are godly;

Give Adonai his due of glory and strength;

Give Adonai the glory due his name;

Worship Adonai in holy splendor.

The voice of Adonai is over the waters;

The God of glory thunders,

Adonai over rushing waters,

The voice of Adonai is power,

The voice of Adonai in splendor.

The voice of Adonai cracks the cedars;

Adonai splinters the cedars of Lebanon

And makes the L’vanon skip like a calf,

Siryon like a young wild ox.

The voice of Adonai flashes fiery flames;

The voice of Adonai rocks the desert,

Adonai convulses the Kadesh desert.

The voice of Adonai causes deer to give birth

And strips the forests bare–

While in his temple, all cry, “Glory!”

Adonai sits enthroned above the flood!

Adonai sits enthroned as king forever!

May Adonai give strength to his people!

May Adonai bless his people with Shalom!

Matthew 7:13

Go in through the narrow gate, for the gate that leads to destruction is wide and the road broad, and many travel it; but it is a narrow gate and a hard road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

We hear Adonai in the turbulent, violent wind. Who of us can create such a force? Even the man-made destruction uses materials already formed by our Creator! David gives voice to the largeness and power of God and Jesus tells us in response to David’s praise and blessings that many will find a broad path–no hurdles here–and few the narrow path that is hard and gives training in strength building. Those in the temple cry ‘glory!’ for they have overcome, gained strength and life with peace.

Our body is the temple of the Lord God Almighty:

It is good to remember our purpose is always to give praise to God; in the difficult, painful times as well as the good, peaceful times. Job stated; ‘the Lord giveth, the Lord taketh away; blessed be the name of the Lord.’ A recent letter from Saeed praises God and tells us that he prays for America! This is the narrow way. This is strength building. This is overcoming. Can we do any less…

It is time to raise our voice; our collective voice. We will raise it to praise and glorify our God no matter who cries ‘offense!’, or threatens violence if we speak. We will raise it to decry the evil in the land and call for action to restore the righteous laws that bring peace. We will raise it to defend the innocent, combat the oppressor and free the oppressed. The oppressor uses today’s technology to spread terror. Let us use it to spread peace, call for justice and action to free the prisoners of evil. We join with the voice of God to condemn the evil in our land!

An update on Saeed:

Urgent Update on Saeed:

It is truly heartbreaking to know that one day after I spoke in front of our congress Saeed was beaten by fellow prisoners. Saeed’s father was not able to see Saeed last week because of a holiday in Iran, but today he was truly shaken to learn of the beating that Saeed had endured. Saeed’s father was also treated horribly and harassed by the prison guards and staff and could only visit Saeed for a short time…

As I shared in front of our congress last week, the Iranian government might turn up the heat in the furnace (as in Daniel 3), but Saeed refuses to deny his faith in Jesus Christ and continues to be a witness in that dark prison. Jesus is with Saeed in that fiery furnace. Saeed wants you to know that he has felt your prayers in his darkest moments. Thank you.

Please continue to keep our family in your prayers during this very difficult time.

God Bless.

Naghmeh

Psalm 30

A Psalm of David. A song at the dedication of the temple. I will extol you, O LORD, for you have drawn me up and have not let my foes rejoice over me.

 O LORD my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me.

 O LORD, you have brought up my soul from Sheol; you restored me to life from among those who go down to the pit.

 Sing praises to the LORD, O you his saints, and give thanks to his holy name.

 For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.

 As for me, I said in my prosperity, “I shall never be moved.”

 By your favor, O LORD, you made my mountain stand strong; you hid your face; I was dismayed.

 To you, O LORD, I cry, and to the Lord I plead for mercy:

 “What profit is there in my death, if I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise you? Will it tell of your faithfulness?

 Hear, O LORD, and be merciful to me! O LORD, be my helper!”

 You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; you have loosed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness,

 that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to you forever!

How far have we sunk into the pit? God is able to pull us out. Depression? Wrong living? Burnt conscience? This psalmist was a man of war with all that alone entails. He was adulterous; killed the husband of the wife he committed adultery with. Yet he gives praise to Adonai, God, for pulling him out of hell. He was consumed with grief and depression over the loss of his child, but praised God for the joy that comes in the morning…

It does not matter how dark the night is, day dawns with light and the darkness must leave. It does not matter how dark our soul becomes; day dawns with light when the Son of God comes and rises within us. The darkness must leave. Give glory and praise to the one who brings the light to our souls, to our lives. Sing with the psalmist:

You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; you have loosed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness,

that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to you forever!

 Sing praises to the LORD, O you his saints, and give thanks to his holy name.

Psalm 119 Heth 57-64

 The LORD is my portion;

I promise to keep your words.

I entreat your favor with all my heart;

be gracious to me according to your promise.

When I think on my ways,

I turn my feet to your testimonies;

  I hasten and do not delay

 to keep your commandments.

 Though the cords of the wicked ensnare me,

I do not forget your law.

  At midnight I rise to praise you,

because of your righteous rules.

  I am a companion of all who fear you,

of those who keep your precepts.

 The earth, O LORD, is full of your steadfast love;

teach me your statutes!

Who do we keep company with?  Do they share the same love of God and love for His word?  David shows his wisdom.

“… I am a companion of all who fear you,

of those who keep your precepts. …”

His face is always toward the Lord God.  In all situations he does not waver.  Can we say the same?  The love and desire for God is so pervasive he rises at midnight to praise the Lord.  He would have us look around us and see how much God loves us.  The love of God is all around us.  We can rise with the birdsong and join in the praise that invites his presence.

“The earth, O Lord, is full of your steadfast love: teach [us]…!”

Blessed be the name of the Lord Jesus Christ!  God’s promise and love fulfilled.  What David looked for we have in Christ.  Salvation is here.

I Corinthians 4:1-21

 This is how one should regard us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.   Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful. But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you or by any human court. In fact, I do not even judge myself. For I am not aware of anything against myself, but I am not thereby acquitted. It is the Lord who judges me. Therefore do not pronounce judgment before the time, before the Lord comes, who will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart. Then each one will receive his commendation from God. I have applied all these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, brothers, that you may learn by us not to go beyond what is written, that none of you may be puffed up in favor of one against another.

For who sees anything different in you? What do you have that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it? Already you have all you want! Already you have become rich! Without us you have become kings! And would that you did reign, so that we might share the rule with you! For I think that God has exhibited us apostles as last of all, like men sentenced to death, because we have become a spectacle to the world, to angels, and to men.

We are fools for Christ’s sake, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are held in honor, but we in disrepute. To the present hour we hunger and thirst, we are poorly dressed and buffeted and homeless, and we labor, working with our own hands. When reviled, we bless; when persecuted, we endure; when slandered, we entreat. We have become, and are still, like the scum of the world, the refuse of all things. I do not write these things to make you ashamed, but to admonish you as my beloved children. For though you have countless guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel. I urge you, then, be imitators of me. That is why I sent you Timothy, my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, to remind you of my ways in Christ, as I teach them everywhere in every church. Some are arrogant, as though I were not coming to you. But I will come to you soon, if the Lord wills, and I will find out not the talk of these arrogant people but their power. For the kingdom of God does not consist in talk but in power. What do you wish? Shall I come to you with a rod, or with love in a spirit of gentleness?

We may take credit for nothing more than following the lead of the Spirit.

“…regard us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. …”

All that we are has been given to us by God.  All we accomplish is enabled by him.  Scripture  states “Who can know the mind of God,” and “who is man that you (God) visit him?”…  We, therefore, are in error when we boast to be able to do that which was from God.  Can we judge others when we can’t truly even judge ourselves?  “The Lord judges…”  and praise will come from him, the only true praise for he knows all; our hearts, our thoughts…  We would do better to praise him for our abilities and thank  him for them.

“… each one will receive his commendation from God….”  “…not to go beyond what is written, that none of you may be puffed up in favor of one against another….”

These thoughts and comments deal  with an attitude of the heart.  They deal  with the foothold of personal conceit that can lead to a stronghold of selfish pride that keeps us from hearing the Lord for our focus shifts inward rather than toward Him.

“…the kingdom of God does not consist in talk but in power….”

If Paul came to visit us would he find a lot of talk or the demonstrated power of God?

Pride goes before a fall…

Ezekiel 28:1-10

The word of the LORD came to me again, saying, 2 “Son of man, say to the prince of Tyre, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD:

“Because your heart is lifted up,

And you say, ‘I am a god,

I sit in the seat of gods,

In the midst of the seas,’

Yet you are a man, and not a god,

Though you set your heart as the heart of a god

3 (Behold, you are wiser than Daniel!

There is no secret that can be hidden from you!

4 With your wisdom and your understanding

You have gained riches for yourself,

And gathered gold and silver into your treasuries;

5 By your great wisdom in trade you have increased your riches,

And your heart is lifted up because of your riches),”

6 ‘Therefore thus says the Lord GOD:

“Because you have set your heart as the heart of a god,

7 Behold, therefore, I will bring strangers against you,

The most terrible of the nations;

And they shall draw their swords against the beauty of your wisdom,

And defile your splendor.

8 They shall throw you down into the Pit,

And you shall die the death of the slain

In the midst of the seas.

9 “Will you still say before him who slays you,

‘I am a god’?

But you shall be a man, and not a god,

In the hand of him who slays you.

10 You shall die the death of the uncircumcised

By the hand of aliens;

For I have spoken,” says the Lord GOD.’ ”

When the Lord speaks it is so.  May we find ourselves at the foot of the cross, covered by the blood of Christ, raised with him to new life that when the Sovereign Lord looks upon us he sees his Son’s shed blood for our sin and speaks favorably to us.  We have the promise of a relationship with Him that was denied this king.  This king paid dearly for the pride within him.  Let us recognize that who we are and what we do is only because He is. Be careful to give the praise to the Lord God Almighty.
