From John 4:

1When Yeshua (Jesus) learned that the P’rushim (Pharisees) had heard he was making and immersing more talmidim (disciples) than Yochanan (John) 2(although it was not Yeshua (Jesus) himself who immersed but his talmidim (disciples) ), 3Yeshua (Jesus) left Y’hudah (Judah) and set out again for the Galil (Galilee). 4This meant that he had to pass through Shomron.(Samaria)

5He came to a town in Shomron(Samaria) called Sh’khem, near the field Ya‘akov had given to his son Yosef. 6Ya‘akov’s Well was there; so Yeshua, (Jesus) exhausted from his travel, sat down by the well; it was about noon. 7A woman from Shomron (Samaria) came to draw some water; and Yeshua (Jesus) said to her, “Give me a drink of water.”  8 (His talmidim (disciples)  had gone into town to buy food.)  9 The woman from Shomron (Samaria) said to him, “How is it that you, a Jew, ask for water from me, a woman of Shomron (Samaria)?” (For Jews don’t associate with people from Shomron(Samaria).) 10 Yeshua (Jesus) answered her, “If you knew God’s gift, that is, who it is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink of water,’ then you would have asked him; and he would have given you living water.”

Water gives life, without water there is no life.  What then is the difference between water from the well and water Christ gives?  One is temporal and one is eternal.  One is of the earth and the other is of heaven.  One relieves the physical thirst, the other relieves spiritual thirst.  Christ made it possible for mankind to once more be blessed in the spirit with life eternal.  This water, the Holy Spirit, fills up and satisfies mankind’s quest for spiritual life and completeness.

Christ was physically weary yet still had living water to give to this woman.

Pray – Fill me up, Lord.  I lift my cup, Lord; come and quench this thirsting of my soul.  Bread of heaven feed me till I want no more, fill me up and make me whole.

Repent – I repent for those times I relied on ‘physical’ water to satisfy spiritual thirst.

Ask – As the deer longs for running streams, God, I long for you.  I am thirsty for God, for the living God! Deep is calling to deep at the thunder of your waterfalls;

Yes – all your surging rapids and waves are sweeping over me.

From John 4:

11She said to him, “Sir, you don’t have a bucket, and the well is deep; so where do you get this ‘living water’? 12You aren’t greater than our father Ya‘akov (Jacob), are you? He gave us this well and drank from it, and so did his sons and his cattle.” 13Yeshua (Jesus) answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will get thirsty again, 14but whoever drinks the water I will give him will never be thirsty again! On the contrary, the water I give him will become a spring of water inside him, welling up into eternal life!”

15“Sir, give me this water,” the woman said to him, “so that I won’t have to be thirsty and keep coming here to draw water.” 16He said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come back.” 17She answered, “I don’t have a husband.” Yeshua  (Jesus) said to her, “You’re right, you don’t have a husband! 18You’ve had five husbands in the past, and you’re not married to the man you’re living with now! You’ve spoken the truth!”

Water of life, knowledge, mind -set, a mix of spiritual and natural.  The place of operation for most, understandably so, is in the present and of the physical realm, the natural.  Jesus points to another realm that spans time – has no time – and functions in the spiritual.

Water.  Physical water satisfies thirst.  However, the thirst returns for the water is used up.  Spiritual water satisfies the soul and spirit and does not get used up rather becomes a stream of life-giving water.  Both, physical and spiritual give life.

Reflection demands assurance that the life-giving, eternal flow of water is present in the believer.  This flow will not damage but heal.

Pray – Lord, you alone are my shepherd; I lack nothing.  You have me lie down in green pastures feeding me your word, and You lead me by quiet water, You restore my inner person.

Repent – True, I was born guilty, was a sinner from the moment my mother conceived me.

Ask – Guide me in right paths for the sake of your name.  Create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit in me.

Yes – Goodness and grace will pursue me every day of my life; and I will live in the house of the Lord for years and years to come.

Giving Thanks for Life…

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. Romans
Comments, thoughts and reflections welcome

From Ephesians:

You used to be dead because of your sins and acts of disobedience.  You walked in the ways of ‘olam hazah and obeyed the Ruler of the Powers of the air, who is still at work among the disobedient.  Indeed, we all once lived this way—we followed the passions of our old nature and obeyed the wishes of our old nature and our own thoughts.  In our natural condition we were headed for God’s wrath, just like everyone else.

We talk of our passion for this or that.  Our words betray us.  We develop habits of behavior that obey our old nature.  To break the habits takes concentrated effort and what is amazing is how God enables us to do it when we ask.  “able to accomplish way more than we can imagine or ask.”  Changing the thoughts that enter the heart and drive the actions and words  is not easily done.  With our willingness, God is able to accomplish just that.  We filled our minds with garbage, the garbage must be replaced with the pure knowledge of God through Christ and that is the purpose for immersing oneself in the scripture remembering that Jesus is the Word; He makes the Word alive and active.

Pray – How can we keep our ways pure?  By guarding them according to your word.  I seek you with all my heart; don’t let me stray from your commands. I treasure your word in my heart, so that I won’t sin against you.  Blessed are you, Adonai!

Repent – I am sorry for not asking first what you want me to do  I am sorry for the years spent in neglect of your Word for how then could I know your way except to follow others; not always a good thing…

Ask – Teach me your laws.  I proclaim with my mouth all the rulings you have spoken.

Yes – I rejoice in the way of your instruction more than any kind of wealth.  I will meditate on your precepts and keep my eyes on your ways.  I will find my delight in your regulations.  I will not forget your Word..  Your Word sets me free, your restrictions give release to move forward.  Speaking your Word, which is righteous, over temptations, which are not, places a restriction on the temptations, and releases me to move freely in Your Spirit.  Thank you!

Anxiety?

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. Romans

Comments, thoughts and reflections welcome

Matthew 6:28-

And why be anxious about clothing? Think about the fields of wild irises, and how they do grow. They neither work nor spin thread, yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his glory was clothed as beautifully as one of these. If this is how God clothes grass in the field–which is here today and gone tomorrow, thrown in an oven–won’t he much more clothe you? What little trust you have!! – Jesus

Can the believer trust God for healing? Can the believer trust God for job and spouse? Can the believer trust God for food and shelter? Can the believer trust God for attire? A believer has trusted God for salvation…then why would a believer not trust, have faith for the rest of what makes life?   The last question is how much faith does a believer have? Enough to be a believer? Then what…?

putting_worry[1]

Not exercising faith in all of the elements of life is not believing what God has said. That lack of faith is disrespect in the sense it states that what God has said is not true. That was the first question posed to Eve. The deception is real and subtle. It begins with a question and ends with death. If there is faith for salvation, a stated belief in God and his gift to all through Christ, then there is no room for anxiety. Anxiety is evidence of lack of faith and calls into question the believer’s first statement of belief. Don’t be caught up in the web of deception and think worry is a small matter. Ask of the Lord for the faith to truly believe and apply that belief to life in all its forms.

Prayer…

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. Romans

Comments, thoughts and reflections welcome

Matthew 6:5-15

Matthew 6:5-15 “And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.

But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

“And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words.

Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

Pray then like this:

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.

Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,

and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you,

but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Forgiveness is a big thing. This looks a lot like ‘do unto others…’ It encompasses provision and honor. God is love and is loved. He gave the first kiss and it was a kiss of life. Couples kiss and the life of a relationship is birthed…life happens. Mothers, parents kiss and life is nurtured in the young body. Forgiving one another springs out of loving one another.

That love springs initially from the Creator. When accepted by humanity, it bears proof of the Creator’s presence within His creation. That love then extends to all who come into contact with the believer. The honor and glory remain in the Father. Living is loving and loving is living…all that is said and done is said and done in love. It becomes an integral part of the created being. It is not possible to truly love another if that other is not forgiven. There remains a block to true worship; a hindrance to true communion with God and others. That unforgiveness within begins to grow into a root of bitterness that sprouts a weed rather than a tree. When forgiveness is extended, there is a release and a freedom to fully worship the Father and to truly love others.

In that place the following prayer can truthfully and powerfully be prayed:

I fall on my knees before you, Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth receives its character and name. I pray that from the treasures of your glory you will empower us with inner strength by your Spirit, so that the Messiah may live in our hearts through our trusting, our faith. Also I pray that we will be rooted and founded in love, so that we, with all God’s people, will be given strength to grasp the breadth, length, height and depth of the Messiah’s love, yes, to know it, even though it is beyond all knowing, so that we will be filled with all the fullness of you, God.

Now, to you who by your power working in us is able to do far beyond anything we can ask or imagine, to you be glory in our community and in the Messiah Yeshua from generation to generation forever. Amen

praying[1]

If my people who are called by my name….pray. At this time there is a great need for the power of prayer to be released in the spiritual realm. There is great need for safety, provision, and a return to the Word of God, both the Scriptures and the Son, Jesus. Prayer is power…it is spiritual power that combats the spirits that intend evil for God’s creation. It is time for all God’s people to band together in prayer, releasing His power on earth. As it is in heaven…so shall it be on earth.

Break the silence….

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. Romans

Comments, thoughts and reflections welcome.

Genesis 42:21

21 Then they said to one another, “Truly we are guilty concerning our brother, because we saw the distress of his soul when he pleaded with us, yet we would not listen; therefore this distress has come upon us.”

Do we honestly think we are immune?  It is time to break the silence…Germany paid dearly for their silence…

Luke 10:29-37

29 But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”

30 Then Jesus answered and said: “A certain [man] went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded [him], and departed, leaving [him] half dead.

31 “Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

32 “Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side.

33 “But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion.

34 “So he went to [him] and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

35 “On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave [them] to the innkeeper, and said to him, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.’

36 “So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?”

37 And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”

The following excerpt is included because it is a battle cry to action.

“God specifically tells us:

“When you happen on someone who’s in trouble or needs help . . . don’t look the other way pretending you don’t see him – don’t keep a tight grip on your purse. No. Look at him; open your purse; lend whatever and as much as he needs. . . . Give freely and spontaneously. Don’t have a stingy heart. The way you handle matters like this triggers God’s blessing in everything you do – all your work and ventures. . . .” Deuteronomy 15:9-11The Message (MSG

First they came for the Coptic Christians but I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t Coptic.

Then they came for the Homosexual and stoned them to death, but I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t homosexual.

Then they sold the Kurdish women and children in to slavery but I wasn’t a 9 year old Kurd so I didn’t say anything.

Then they came for the Muslim who wasn’t Muslim enough and the Christian that wouldn’t convert but I didn’t say anything because I didn’t think it involved me and I didn’t think I could do anything anyway.

Eventually they will come for you, and there will be no one left to speak out for you.

Not to speak is to speak, not to stand is to stand. God will not hold us blameless.”– Glen Beck

Not to speak is to speak.

Not to stand is to stand.

Not to vote is to vote.

Not to act is to act.

Each of us can be a Samaritan in some way to our neighbors suffering violence whether it be at the hands of ISIS or angry protestors or the scalpel of an abortionist.  Violence is done to the innocent.  We can no longer look away as children and women are enslaved and trafficked to a customer base that includes the US of A.   It doesn’t go away because we close our eyes.  It remains and grows.

God’s people are the salt and light of the earth.  Salt enhances flavor but also burns the wounds and destroys the soil.  Light brings understanding but also exposes the acts done in darkness.  We are the salt and light.  We have a voice.  We must raise the voice of the Samaritan and bind the wounds, bring relief, spread the message of love to counter the voices of hate.  Note that the religious leaders avoided the confrontation.  Let’s not turn away or go to the other side of the road. Let’s engage in this fight against evil. Let’s raise our voice…

Remember this?

“The Sound Of Silence”

Hello darkness my old friend.

I’ve come to talk with you again.

Because a vision softly creeping

Left its seeds while I was sleeping

And the vision that was planted in my brain

Still remains

Within the sound of silence.

————————-

In restless dreams I walked alone

Narrow streets of cobblestone

‘neath the halo of a street lamp

I turned my collar to the cold and damp

When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light

That split the night and touched the sound of silence.

—————————-

And in the naked light I saw ten thousand people, maybe more.

People talking without speaking,

People hearing without listening.

People writing songs that voices never shared

No one dared, disturb the sound of silence

—————————–

“Fools,” said I, “you do not know,

Silence like a cancer grows.

Hear my words that I might teach you,

Take my arms that I might reach you.”

But my words like silent raindrops fell and echoed

In the wells of silence.

————————

And the people bowed and prayed

To the neon god they made

And the sign flashed out its warning in the words that it was forming.

And the sign said, “the words of the prophets

Are written on the subway walls and tenement halls

And whispered in the sound of silence.

Rock and sand…

Matthew 7:24-27

So, everyone who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a sensible man who built his house on bedrock. The rain fell, the rivers flooded, the winds blew and beat against that house, but it didn’t collapse, because its foundation was on rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not act on them will be like a stupid man who built his house on sand. The rains fell, the rivers flooded, the wind blew and beat against that house, and it collapsed–and its collapse was horrendous. – Jesus

Are we building our ‘houses’ on rock or sand? Are we investing our time, money and the future of our children on rock or sand? Jesus says anyone who hears his words and acts on them is building on rock. Storms of life, lifestyles, manners of behaviour will not prevail. As a nation, are we building futures on rock, or sand which is soft and erodes out from under bringing a collapse. Sand comes from rock, but the rock has been broken…think on that…we cannot build anything of value or stability on that which is broken…it will collapse. Small children learn this young with their experimental building… Yet we as adults are no better, often, and have forgotten the wisdom of time before– we embrace the ‘new improved revelation’ which is often deception wrapped in a pretty package.

So we turn from the eternal, the strong which has weathered storms to a new concept and now we see an imminent collapse. From a natural, inborn desire for life to people who only care for self and even go beyond to a disregard for any life, embracing death.

The spirits of despair, fear, and destruction run rampant among God’s creation. It is time to resist, to embrace God and His Word, to tear down that which will collapse and rebuild on the Rock, the Rock of our Salvation.
