Light of the world…

Acts 5:12-16

And through the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were done among the people. And they were all with one accord in Solomon’s Porch. Yet none of the rest dared join them, but the people esteemed them highly. And believers were increasingly added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women,  so that they brought the sick out into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them.  Also a multitude gathered from the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, bringing sick people and those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all healed.

People are drawn to those who walk with God. Like moths to the light shining in the dark night of men’s distress and despair, God’s presence through the obedience, faithfulness of those who had walked with Jesus was shining and drawing others to the same presence.  As flowers follow the sun, we follow the Son and also gain life.  In adoration we lift our faces and hands upward in praise out of the darkness of our soul’s night.  A shadow, a touch of the garment, faith builds, grows and reaps a harvest of good.  Images of light spreading across the  land and in its path new life springs forth in brilliant colors of love.  On either side of the light’s path is darkness and in its lack is a yearning for the light.  Be a beacon of God’s light to those around you, let His presence spill out and touch those who cross your path.  “…and they were all healed.”
