This is today…

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. Romans

Psalm 14

To the choirmaster. Of David. The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds, there is none who does good.

The LORD looks down from heaven on the children of man, to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God.

They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt; there is none who does good, not even one.

Have they no knowledge, all the evildoers who eat up my people as they eat bread and do not call upon the LORD?

There they are in great terror, for God is with the generation of the righteous.

You would shame the plans of the poor, but the LORD is his refuge.

Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD restores the fortunes of his people, let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad.

We hear the phrase, “There is no God,” or its equivalent everywhere today. We are engulfed in an onslaught of litigation to remove all references to God from our public life. It is replaced with phrases that attempt to glorify that which is anti-God and teaches the opposite of what His Word teaches us.

The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds, there is none who does good.

We see its counterfeit everywhere. Celebrities take up more than 50% of our news. Children are taught to look up to them instead of  being presented with Jesus, who cares for them rather than taking from them. Government is looked to for safety and provision rather than trusting in God Almighty who provides for those who love and serve him alone.

Salvation has come! Jesus came in answer to the psalmist’s cry. We have the power the psalmist knew was available. Let our focus remain in Christ, Son of God, our salvation come to us. God is our provider, our security, our salvation. We are on a journey and earth is where it begins, but not where it ends. Life continues for those who accept and live by the truth given through Jesus, His words, His life, death and resurrection.
