Who He Is; Who We Are…

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. Romans

Psalm 8

To the choirmaster: according to The Gittith. A Psalm of David. O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.

Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger.

When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,

what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?

Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.

You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet,

all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field,

the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas.

O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Who is God? Who is man? What can God do? What can man do? The psalmist knows. God is glorious, righteous, majestic, known throughout all the earth. Are we the only ones who know him? Would we be so bold? Man is part of creation, a creature not the creator…selah…given the charge of dominion over creation, in stature only a little lower than the angels.

Psalm 8:5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

God creates, gives charge, sets in place, concerns himself with mankind, does not create and walk way…selah. Mankind does what God gives him to do for God knows his creation and what they are capable of doing.

God is who he says he is. God can do what he says he can do. We are who God says we are. We can do all things through Christ.
