More of you, God…

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. Romans

Comments, thoughts and reflections welcome.

Isaiah 66:7-14

“Before she was in labor she gave birth; before her pain came upon her she delivered a son.

 Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? Shall a land be born in one day? Shall a nation be brought forth in one moment? For as soon as Zion was in labor she brought forth her children.

 Shall I bring to the point of birth and not cause to bring forth?” says the LORD; “shall I, who cause to bring forth, shut the womb?” says your God.

 “Rejoice with Jerusalem, and be glad for her, all you who love her; rejoice with her in joy, all you who mourn over her;

 that you may nurse and be satisfied from her consoling breast; that you may drink deeply with delight from her glorious abundance.”

 For thus says the LORD: “Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the nations like an overflowing stream; and you shall nurse, you shall be carried upon her hip, and bounced upon her knees.

 As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you; you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.

You shall see, and your heart shall rejoice; your bones shall flourish like the grass; and the hand of the LORD shall be known to his servants, and he shall show his indignation against his enemies.

It is so much better to be a servant of God; living and working in his will than to be found opposing him, coming against his children and feeling his fury.

“…You shall see, and your heart shall rejoice; your bones shall flourish like the grass; and the hand of the LORD shall be known to his servants, and he shall show his indignation against his enemies….”

Can we see clearly the benefits of following Him only?   His Word is ours, His Spirit is with us, in us, leading us. Let us not stray and return to following our own will, or the paths set out by others. It takes knowing God, hearing His voice above the others and following Him at all cost. Jesus says those who lose their lives for Him will find life. And those who protect what they deem is theirs will lose it.

“There is today no lack of Bible teachers to set forth correctly the principles of the doctrines of Christ, but too many of these seem satisfied to teach the fundamentals of the faith year after year, strangely unaware that there is in their ministry no manifest Presence, nor anything unusual in their personal lives. They minister constantly to believers who feel within their breasts a longing which their teaching simply does not satisfy.” – A.W.Tozer

It would seem that although this was written in 1948 it remains true today. There is a growing hunger for the spiritual nourishment that can be gained only from our daily bread – the Word of God rightly followed and taught.

“… Shall I bring to the point of birth and not cause to bring forth?” says the LORD; “shall I, who cause to bring forth, shut the womb?” says your God. …”

God is ready to birth something new in our world and nation. May we be alert to his leading, may we be aware of His Holy Word. May we know Him so well we recognize His voice among all the other voices calling for our attention. There is an army rising up, the chains shall be broken, even those of which we are unaware.
