For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. Romans

And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.” And he said, “Go, and say to this people:
“‘Keep on hearing, but do not understand;
keep on seeing, but do not perceive.’
Make the heart of this people dull,
and their ears heavy,
and blind their eyes;
lest they see with their eyes,
and hear with their ears,
and understand with their hearts,
and turn and be healed.”
Then I said, “How long, O Lord?”
And he said: “Until cities lie waste
and houses without people,
and the land is a desolate waste,
and the LORD removes people far away,
and the forsaken places are many in the midst of the land.
And though a tenth remain in it,
it will be burned again,
like a terebinth or an oak,
whose stump remains
when it is felled.”
The holy seed is its stump.
The heart is dull- it cannot comprehend
The ears are heavy – too many voices
The eyes are blind- visual confusion does not allow for focus or perception; it breeds deception
Immersed in these conditions prevents healing of the body, mind and soul. It leads to what we see even today ; destruction through the forces of nature and war, displacing whole populations and leaving cities and towns uninhabitable.
There are those who take steps to reduce the noise, select only the Word of God for their sight and allow the presence of the Holy Spirit to bring understanding. Are these the stumps, the remnant and the seed? – that Holy Seed – Christ lies within them and they rise to new life.
