For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. Romans
Comments, thoughts and reflections welcome.
He will raise a signal for nations far away,
and whistle for them from the ends of the earth;
and behold, quickly, speedily they come!
None is weary, none stumbles,
none slumbers or sleeps,
not a waistband is loose,
not a sandal strap broken;
their arrows are sharp,
all their bows bent,
their horses’ hoofs seem like flint,
and their wheels like the whirlwind.
Their roaring is like a lion,
like young lions they roar;
they growl and seize their prey;
they carry it off, and none can rescue.
They will growl over it on that day,
like the growling of the sea.
And if one looks to the land,
behold, darkness and distress;
and the light is darkened by its clouds
When Israel rejected their heritage, the word of the Lord spoken to all nations through, them they faced judgment. There is a lesson to be learned here. When we receive the blessings of the Lord and his salvation, there is a responsibility that comes with it. Jesus spoke often of the need to deny self for him and the kingdom of God. When we stray, as Israel did, from the relationship with our maker, there will be consequences. How genuine is our love for our God? Can it be seen in our actions, thoughts and words? Or, have we strayed from the Word of God and called evil good and good evil, replaced light with darkness, say what is sweet is bitter and what is bitter is sweet? Are we buying into tolerance and in doing so allowing the rottenness of one apple to spoil all? It is time to search our hearts and minds. It is time to replace the noise of the world around us with the music of the Word of God. It is time to reflect, repent, renew our relationship, for the consequences of denial are not pleasant and will destroy our relationships.
