Delight in His Word…

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. Romans

Psalm 119 Waw 41-48

Let your steadfast love come to me, O LORD,

your salvation according to your promise;

then shall I have an answer for him who taunts me,

for I trust in your word.

And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth,

for my hope is in your rules.

I will keep your law continually,

forever and ever,

and I shall walk in a wide place,

for I have sought your precepts.

I will also speak of your testimonies before kings

and shall not be put to shame,

for I find my delight in your commandments,

 which I love.

I will lift up my hands toward your commandments, which I love,

and I will meditate on your statutes.

Do we love the Lord and his word as much as this?  David was called a man after God’s heart.  That calls for an intimate knowledge of God.  That calls for a relationship built on love and trust.  Do we know the principles of life, thought, behavior and action that God is teaching us in His Word?  Christ used the Word to teach and rebuke.  How much of our energy is given to knowing God?  He lives within; is He a stranger?

As we spend time in His Word, He speaks to us.  We come to know Him so we will know when He speaks.  We know the genuine and because we do we can identify the counterfeit.  We can discern between the voices that are not his and the voice that is.

Meditate, take time, grow to love the Word of God both the written word and the living Son of God.  Read the Word and hear His voice.  It is life to us.  It is love to us.  “I find my delight in your commandments, which I love…”

“…and I will meditate on your statutes. “
