There is no ignorance…

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. Romans

Romans 1:18-25

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.

For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them.

For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened.

Claiming to be wise, they became fools,

and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.

Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves,

because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.

This portion of Romans 1 almost sounds like prophecy for present day humanity.  We see the absence of truth, the exchange of truth for lie and the worship of the creation rather than the Creator.

“…they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, …”

We see the excesses of sexual sin and degrading of the human body intended for a temple of the living God.

“…the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, …”

We see denial of God’s existence in exchange for belief in man’s reasoning.

“…For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. …”

And so we see those who would be wise made foolish.

“… Claiming to be wise, they became fools, …”

From this we can learn what truth is and be sure to abide there.  Truth is all around us in creation and we cannot be ignorant of it for creation itself cries out that God is God.

“…what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made….”
