“No one lights a lamp and then hides it or puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where its light can be seen by all who enter the house.
“Your eye is a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is good, your whole body is filled with light. But when it is bad, your body is filled with darkness. Make sure that the light you think you have is not actually darkness. If you are filled with light, with no dark corners, then your whole life will be radiant, as though a floodlight were filling you with light.”
Make sure that the light you think you have is not actually darkness. …What is our source of light? That will help determine whether the light is actually darkness or light. God’s Word is a light unto my path…The eye is the lamp, providing the light. Where does it get the light it shines? Is the light actually darkness? Consider the source.
Light shows us the way to go along the path of life. It shows us how to live, how to die. This light gives understanding…how to, what to, when to, where to…If there is no understanding, is the light darkness? Where are we seeking understanding, where do we go for help, from whom do we receive advice, assistance when we lack in understanding? God’s Word is light, the source of light. That light will fill us completely..we won’t be left ‘out in the dark.’
Also, the body of believers using God’s Word as a source of light will not operate in the dark. What is our source? If we have lack in understanding, not knowing what to do, we have a darkness, not light. Then it is time to ask, who or what is our source. “No one lights a lamp and then hides it or puts it under a basket. We do not want to be guilty of closing the Word of God and putting it under a basket. If it is our source, it must be opened and absorbed. It must fill us with its light. God’s Word is light, we must spend time with it, absorbing it, filling up with it so that our whole body is full of light. …then your whole life will be radiant,…
