Reliance on God – following His will…

Late July of 08:

The morning is fresh, cool.  There is a slight breeze bringing coolness to my skin.  The fountain sings in the background, a compliment to the birdsong in the air.  Fewer birds sing now as the sun paints the sky pink on the clouds and blue in the air.  The clouds are wispy, spray across the blue expanse, the moon a crisp sliver reflecting the rising sun.

No insectsong, no peepers as the night recedes, they become silent and sleep or feed on the rest of the population awakening for another day.

Psalm 25:4-5

…reliance on God.  Teach me your paths, guide me in your truth/Word for you are my God, my savior.

(saving from poverty, disease, depression, attack)

I Corinthians 12:11-31

For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.   …For the body does not consist of one member but of many.  But God has so composed the body, giving greater honor to the part that lacked it, that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another…

Body of many parts, all different, all having purpose, all of equal value.

Which part are you?  When He teaches me His will, I must then do it, for Luke records Jesus stating “the servant who knows [God’s] will and does not get ready or does not do what he wants will be beaten with many blows.”  We suffer many times because we are not doing what he has taught us to do.  If we do not like “the many blows,” we must do what we know to do.  (duh) 🙂

Litmus test for God’s wisdom

James 3:16

Wisdom from God is working when you see peace, consideration, submission, mercy, good fruit, impartiality, sincerity. ”  “Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.”

We are following God’s lead- using His wisdom when we feel peace irregardless of the circumstances, when we use consideration between us, when we willingly submit to each other, show mercy to one another, have the evidence of good fruit, show impartiality that is, treat all the same with the same dignity irregardless of their circumstances, and are sincere in all we do.- real-

We will reap righteousness.  Hebrews 12:11

“No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful.  Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.”

Truth or lie? – James 3:6

We received the word to go to PA, yet had not shared it except with each other.  This is June of  ’08.  The question arose, “when do we begin to speak the word of faith that we are going to PA to begin a work for the Lord?”  Then I read in James 3:6,

” The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body.  It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.”

Also, John 8:44

…you belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desire.  He was a murderer from the beginning not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him.  When he lies he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

The tongue is quick to lie – “tell stories” — “out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” Inside we are full of lies, “stories.” This is the natural beat of our nature?  — We have to work at truth and faith to believe what we can’t yet see.

So, do I call it a lie or do I call it faith?  Does it depend upon my source?  Is it looking at the natural (some call it reality) or is it looking at it spiritually (through the eyes of God)?  Did I receive a word, or is this some hidden fantasy?  Stepping out in faith is tough; I face doubt internally as well as answer to it from others.  All of this boils down to what is in my heart.  My mind is staid on thee, O Lord.  My spirit is in touch with your spirit.  So I am filled with You and the abundance of what is in me speaks and faith says I believe You!!!  Therefore, my mouth will speak faith, words that express that faith, and that faith is based upon believing in You.

gnome facts – his hat

grandpa111

The hat is made of felt and is solid. The gnome never removes his hat/cap until bedtime then only in the dark.  “A gnome without his cap is not a gnome.”  The gnome receives his first hat/cap when young and keeps it his whole life.  This requires repairs, the adding of new layers of felt that are applied using a molded form that matches his head.  This is not a task to be relished, but is necessary.  The hat/cap is needed for individuality and protection.  Some say the hat/cap has the power to bestow invisibility upon the gnome.  Could account for the difficulty in spotting the little fellows???

I John 3:1-9 – What is Sin?

No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him…he who does  what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous.  He who does what is sinful is of the devil.  No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God.  “

This begs the question – – What is sin? According to the Word, not according to mankind.

Romans 14:23

everything that does not come from faith is sin.

I John 3

sin is lawlessness

I John 5

 all wrongdoing is sin.

Summary:

Love is the command that drives all others.  God first, neighbor second.  If any action or word intends to or does hurt another it is sin because it breaks the commandment to love.  Putting God and others first indicates love, and obedience to God’s commands reflects love.  Putting yourself first breaks the command to love.  Breaking the command, ignoring the command, disobeying the command is sin.

Three words are used repeatedly to describe sin in the Old Testament and the New, both Hebrew and Greek: fault, offend, and trespass.  All indicate an uncaring attitude for another.  That attitude would indicate lack of true love for another.  The lack of love indicates not knowing God, lack of his seed in us, according to John.

This is vastly different from my exposure to a list of do’s and don’ts.  What I need to be constantly aware of is my language, are my words, my actions, my thoughts indicating love for God and others.  If not, I need to do some repenting and ask forgiveness.  At this point I am no longer concerned with whether something is sin, but rather with whether or not I am expressing love, the love that God has given me, the love his seed in me expresses toward others.

What are your thoughts?  How do you determing what is sin?

The research, I used Blue Letter Bible:

Ramblings

Ecclesiastes 11:

Sow your seed in the morning, and at evening let not your hands be idle.

“Don’t water down the Bible to match your experience: expand your experience to match the Word of God.” Reading God’s Word gives knowledge of God’s Will.  It exhorts/gives encouragement, edifies/builds up, gives strength, comforts/ consoles the broken.
